Serious injuries in midnight crash near Sacred Heart
SACRED HEART -- Three young people were airlifted to Twin Cities area trauma centers for treatment of serious injuries sustained in a head-on crash just after midnight Tuesday near Sacred Heart.
According to the State Patrol, David D. Kriesel, 20, of Glenwood was driving a 1996 Ford Taurus that was involved in a head-on crash around 12:06 a.m. Tuesday on the westbound shoulder of Highway 212 west of Sacred Heart. The other vehicle, a 2007 Chevy Silverado, was driven by Douglas S. Folkens, 55, of Hector. Folkens was held at Granite Falls Hospital with cuts and soreness in his chest from the seat belt.
There were two passengers in Kriesel's vehicle including Joshua R. Baldwin, 20, of Montevideo, and Haley N. Schwenk, 17, of Appleton. Kriesel and Schwenk were airlifted from the scene to North Memorial Medical Center and Baldwin was airlifted from Granite Falls Hospital to Hennepin County Medical Center. All are listed in critical condition.
According to the Patrol, Folkens was eastbound and Kriesel was westbound at the time of the crash.
