Seventh Street Southwest lane closure set Wednesday in Highway 12 project
WILLMAR -- Motorists traveling U.S. Highway 12 in Willmar can expect brief delays at a temporary eastbound lane closure at Seventh Street Southwest beginning Wednesday to allow crews to saw cut the old concrete for construction of a right-turn lane for traffic turning south from Highway 12 onto Seventh Street.
On Thursday, crews will set up a permanent right lane closure on eastbound Highway 12 at Seventh Street. There will be no access from Highway 12 to Seventh Street South. This lane closure will remain in place for approximately one month.
Work began July 7 for the Highway 12 reconstruction project. The project consists of excavation, reconstruction, a right-turn lane at Seventh Street and American Accessibility Act improvements from Sixth Street to Lakeland Drive.
With this project, the Minnesota Department of Transportation is working to preserve an efficient and effective transportation system, according to a MnDOT spokesperson.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution in a work zone and never to enter a roadway that has been blocked with barricades or cones.
