Several accidents reported during Thursday's winter storm
Several injury accidents were reported in the region yesterday as blowing snow reduced visibility and made driving conditions hazardous.
Two people were injured in a one-car roll-over accident that was reported at 4:45 p.m. Thursday on U.S. Highway 71 in Renville County.
According to the State Patrol Tom Sands, 27, of Willmar was driving a 1994 Toyota that went off the road and rolled.
Sand had no apparent injuries but two passengers, Melody Goltz, 18, of Willmar, and Kortnie Schulz, 23, of Olivia, were treated at area hospitals for non-life threatening injuries.
Two people were also injured in a two-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon on state Highway 15 in Meeker County.
According to the State Patrol, Jocelyn Schwartz, 23, of Elk River was going north on Highway 15 near Dassel, had just passed a snow plow and went back into the northbound lane and lost control of the Grand Prix SE sedan she was driving. The vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a Ford Fusion driven by Aaron Oconnel, 19, of Williams.
Schwartz was taken to St. Cloud Hospital and is listed in serious condition, according to the State Patrol, and Oconnell was treated at the scene of the accident, which was reported at 4:27 p.m.
Roads were in icy condition at the time.
