Sheriff identifies Renville woman killed in accident
OLIVIA --The name of the victim in a fatal car accident that happened yesterday near Danube has been released.
The Renville County Sheriff's Department said today that Michele Belton, 39, of Renville, was killed Thursday morning when her vehicle went into the ditch and rolled on a county road north of Danube.
Belton died at the scene of the accident.
According to a news release from Renville County Sheriff Scott Hable, the crash happened around 11:40 a.m. on County Road 1 about a quarter of a mile south of the Renville-Kandiyohi County line, which is about six miles north of Danube.
The preliminary investigation determined the 1989 Ford Tempo that Belton was driving was going north on County Road 1 and rolled into the west ditch.
She was alone in the vehicle.
The Renville County Sheriff's office and the Minnesota State patrol are continuing to investigate the crash, according to Hable.
Also responding to the crash were the State Patrol, Danube Police Department, Renville Police Department, Olivia Fire and Rescue and the Olivia Ambulance Service.
