Deputies were called around 5:30 p.m. to the home along the 14200 block of 175th Street Northeast to deal with the man, who was talking in a suicidal fashion and had pointed a gun in the direction of a family member, according to Sheriff Dan Hartog.

The deputies attempted to talk the man into leaving the home, but he refused. The tactical team was called out, and also attempted to negotiate with the man. The team later entered the home and removed the man, Hartog said.

He was transported by the New London ambulance to Rice Memorial Hospital for evaluation.

A total of 15 officers, including members of the State Patrol, were on the scene. No injuries were suffered.

Information in the case has been turned over to the county attorney's office to determine if charges are warranted, Hartog said.
