Shirley Rikke July 30, 1925 - Dec. 9, 2009
MONTEVIDEO -- Shirley Helen Rikke, 84, of Montevideo, died Wednesday at Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
She was born July 30, 1925, in Chippewa County to Henry and Martha (Groothuis) Koenen. She attended rural schools and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1943. She worked at the Swift & Co. Creamery for several years.
On April 6, 1957, she married Walter Rikke in Montevideo. She later worked at Archer-Daniels-Midland and at the Montevideo Schools.
She was a longtime member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo and was active in church organizations. She was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband; sons: Ryan Rikke of Savage and Dan (and Susan) Rikke of Shakopee; two grandsons; a sister: Norma Anderson of Montevideo; and a brother: LeRoy Koenen of Montevideo.
She was preceded in death by two sisters.
