Authorities responded to a residence Tuesday morning, and the boy was taken by ambulance to LifeCare Medical Center in Roseau, Minn. He then was transported to MeritCare in Fargo.

A preliminary investigation suggests the shooting was accidental.

The Sheriff's Office, which still is investigating the incident, would not release any other information Wednesday.
