Shots fired on Red Lake Reservation, law enforcement responding
REDBY -- Multiple law enforcement agencies including the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office and the Headwaters SWAT team are assisting Red Lake authorities with an active crime scene on the Red Lake Indian Reservation.
At about 6:30 a.m., Sheriff’s Office received a request for mutual aid assistance from the Red Lake Police Department, Chief Deputy Ernie Beitel said in the release.
FBI spokesman Kyle Loven said he did not have any further information at this time but hoped to provide more details later in the day.
"We'll have to see how the current situation plays out," he said.
The Red Lake Bureau of Indian Affairs officials said they had no information on the incident. Red Lake police told Forum News Service there had been reports of shots fired on the reservation, which is in north central Minnesota.
