Sixteen-year-old Montevideo girl charged in van theft
WILLMAR -- A 16-year-old Montevideo girl has been charged with receiving stolen property and aiding and abetting receiving stolen property for allegedly stealing a van in Montevideo and driving it to Willmar.
Brianna Marie Roggenbuck made her first appearance Thursday in Kandiyohi County District Court. She was ordered to have no contact with her alleged accomplice, take her medications as prescribed, follow a doctor's recommendations, not drive motor vehicles and follow her home rules.
Her next appearance is Oct. 21.
According to the petition, Willmar police officers received a report Wednesday of the theft of a green Chrysler van stolen in Chippewa County. Around 3:20 p.m., an officer spotted the vehicle with two occupants heading eastbound on Highway 12 and pulled it over on First Street in Willmar near the highway.
Officers then discovered the driver -- a 15-year-old girl -- had been reported a missing person from Montevideo. Roggenbuck, who was the vehicle's passenger, declined to speak with officers, but the other girl said they had taken the van from the Fine Arts Center parking lot in Montevideo. She said the van had the keys in it and that both girls had driven the vehicle.
The girl also said they had run away from home around 7 p.m. Monday and had taken clothing, personal items and purses with them.
