Skilly & Duff Irish music scheduled Friday, Saturday in New London, Appleton
WILLMAR -- The Skilly & Duff Irish Pub Band will perform a special St. Paddy's concert at two local venues this weekend.
They will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Little Theatre in New London and at 7 p.m. Saturday at the '52 Wing Auditorium in Appleton.
The group specializes in the traditional folk songs of Ireland, as are commonly played in the pubs, festivals and fairs of Irish communities around the globe. The songs range from wildly funny ditties and rollicking jigs to beautiful ballads. "It's good-time music that sets toes tapping and hands clapping, and sends the audience home with smiles on their faces."
Balladeers Mikko Cowdery and Bruce Kelly are backed up with guitar, bazouki, bodhran and bass, along with the accordion wizardry of Annie O'Flynn and the fiddle magic of Sami Steidl. Steidl is a 17-year-old fiddle virtuoso who has played with the group for five years. Also joining the show at New London is 12-year-old songstress Lily Satterlee of Sauk Centre.
The New London tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door, and are available at Whitney Music in Willmar, Latte Da Coffee Shop in New London, and Bloom Floral and Gifts in Paynesville.
The Appleton tickets are $12 for adults, ages 12 and under admitted free.
