SMAHC grants awarded

The following grants were made possible in part with funds appropriated by the state legislature and/or by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund as appropriated by the state legislature with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on Nov. 4, 2008.
Art Projects
Recently the SMAHC Board of Directors awarded 28 grants for a total of $106,675 under the Art Projects grant program.
Area groups receive grants were:
Willmar Community Theatre: $5,000 for their 2011 summer season productions
Willmar Area Arts Council: $4,500 for the 2011 Celebrate Art! Celebrate Coffee! festival
Willmar Area Arts Council: $2,600 for visual arts exhibits
New London Music Group: $4,625 for the New London Music Festival
Willmar Design Center: $3,400 for The Kaffe-Café-Kahwa Project
Willmar Area Arts Council: $2,400 for the 2011 Studio Hop
Dawson-Boyd Arts Association: $5,000 to present productions of "Heroes" & "Charlotte's Web"
Lac qui Parle Players, Madison: $2,430 for the production of "Seussical" The Musical
Prairie Arts Chorale, Regional: $1,693 for the concert series, "Broadway...Here & Now"
Meander Art Crawl, Regional: $5,000 for the Meander 2011, "The Upper MN River Art Crawl"
Appleton 52 Wing Restoration Committee: $2,099 for their 2011 Summer Concert in the Park series
Arts Organization Development
The SMAHC Board of Directors awarded six grants for a total of $43,300 under the Arts Organization Development grant program.
Area groups receive grants were:
RCW Area Arts Council, Renville: $15,000 to upgrade the lighting system in the community theater
Willmar Community Theatre: $15,000 to purchase and install a new heating and cooling system
