Somali culture meeting attracts 230 people in Willmar, Minn.

WILLMAR -- More than 230 people attended the morning session of "Understanding the Somali Culture" this morning in Willmar.

A second panel discussion will begin at 6:30 p.m. today in the auditorium at the Willmar Education and Arts Center, 611 Fifth St. S.W.

Topics included Somali history, the history of immigration and the issues encountered by new immigrants as they adjust to a new country. Questions from the audience touched on women's roles and on the teachings of Islam.
