Southwest Willmar hit by thefts
WILLMAR -- At least five homeowners on the southwest side of Willmar were the victims of theft late Thursday or early Friday morning.
The incidents involved items being taken from several vehicles, including stereos, radio face plates, more than 200 music CDs, a checkbook, cash, tools, a pair of binoculars and a set of $200 left-handed teen golf clubs in a black and gray bag that a 13-year-old boy had purchased with his own money and had used only once.
According to police reports, incidents were reported in the 2000 block in the area of 21st or 22nd Avenue Southwest, which is south of 19th Avenue in the area of the Roosevelt Elementary School.
The thefts were all reported early Friday morning.
A theft from a vehicle was also reported in the 300 block of 17th Street Northwest with a stereo, portable CD player and CDs taken from a vehicle.
It's not known when the thefts occurred, but one resident told police they heard their dog bark at around 2 a.m. but they didn't get up to investigate.
