Kevin Wald left a management position with Tyler in Benson in 1992 for the opportunity to open his own engineering consulting company, despite being warned that only 2 to 3 percent of such startups survive. Today he helps oversee offices and manufacturing facilities with nearly 200 employees in Montevideo, Granite Falls, Redwood Falls and Benson.
