Spicer announces finalists for city administrator hiring

SPICER -- The city of Spicer announced its four final candidates for the open city administrator position today along with the finalists' interview times for next week.

Spicer received 56 applications for the administrator position after advertising for the opening last month. Spicer's Personnel Committee narrowed the field down to four finalists last week.

According to Interim City Administrator Wayne Thompson, the committee will start interviewing the candidates Monday.

Of the five finalists, the Personnel Committee will interview Sarah Friesen of Mountain Lake first at 10:30 a.m. Monday. Friesen was the city clerk/treasurer of Spring Park for 12 years, according to Thompson.

The committee will interview Kym Christiansen of St. James at 3 p.m. Monday. Christiansen is a former city clerk/treasurer of Medford.

Spicer's Interim Assistant City Administrator Lori Campbell will answer interview questions at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Campbell has also been Spicer's assistant financial officer.

Lastly, the Personnel Committee will interview Leslie Valiant of Litchfield at 3 p.m. Tuesday. Valiant is former financial officer for the City of St. Joseph.
