Spicer man arrested after high-speed pursuit from Spicer to New London
SPICER -- A 36-year-old Spicer man is in the Kandiyohi County Jail facing charges of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, driving after cancellation and reckless driving stemming from a high-speed chase Tuesday afternoon.
According to a news release from Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Sgt. Steven Marquardt, David Lawrence Pillatzki Jr. was taken into custody after fleeing from deputies on a motorcycle.
The pursuit began when a deputy sheriff attempted to stop Pillatzki, who was wanted on an arrest warrant, just after 2 p.m. Tuesday along Lake Avenue in Spicer.
The motorcycle fled on city streets and through parking lots and backyards in Spicer before going north on Highway 23 at speeds reaching 80 mph. When the motorcyclist neared New London, he traveled north in the southbound lanes before turning into New London. Deputies discontinued the pursuit, but saw the motorcyclist dumped the cycle behind a garage. He was apprehended after a short foot pursuit.
There were no injuries or public property damage from the incident.
