Spooner, Wis., man arrested for assault in Kimball, Minn.

LITCHFIELD -- The Meeker County Sheriff's office is investigating an assault that happened early Sunday morning in rural Kimball.

According to a news release from Sheriff Jeff Norlin, deputies and Kimball Rescue and Gold Cross Ambulance responded around 3:34 a.m. to an address on 710th Avenue.

Matthew James Richards, 20, of Spooner, Wis. was arrested for assaulting a 21-year-old male of Kimball. Gold Cross Ambulance treated both parties on scene for superficial injuries.

Erik Edward Rust, 20, of South Haven, and Heather Leigh Carlson, 19, of Annandale, were cited for minor consumption of alcohol.

Richards was booked into the Meeker County Jail on charges of fifth-degree assault, and underage consumption of alcohol.
