The ReStore will open in Willmar sometime in May, said Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Joline Hovland. The store is currently accepting donations for the opening.

Items in the ReStore will be sold at 30 to 60 percent of their retail value, said Pam Vanderbeek, ReStore manager. All of the profits from the ReStore will go toward Habitat for Humanity of West Central Minnesota, which serves the five-county region.

The ReStore will accept a variety of gently used items, including antiques, cabinets, carpet, doors, furniture, hardware and working electronics.

Materials should be clean, undamaged and in working order.

"It just needs to be usable," said Ashley Alsum, AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.

Alsum said that donating unused or unwanted items is much better than seeing them end up in a landfill.

"For me, it's so important to donate because of the waste factor," Alsum said. "I'd rather see someone else use it if I can't."

"This is a great place to bring your unused items after you do your spring cleaning," Vanderbeek said. "If you're not using it, it will get a new life and a new home."

For more information and updates on the new Habitat for Humanity ReStore, visit their Facebook page at facebook.com/habitatwcmrestore. You can drop off donations Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Habitat for Humanity, 619 Benson Ave. S.W. in Willmar.
