Stage two of Highway 4 construction begins
COSMOS -- The state Highway 4 detour in Cosmos will expand Thursday as work begins on stage two of the $4.48 million project.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation said in a news release that road construction crews on Thursday will begin work on Highway 4 from the south side of state Highway 7 to the south fork of the Crow River.
The reconstruction project to tear up and rebuild Highway 4 is being completed in three sections.
Stage one of the project, which is now complete, consisted of construction on Highway 4 from state Highway 7 to Northern Cross Avenue and included East Gemini Avenue.
The construction work includes grading, paving, sidewalk construction, water main replacement, sewer construction, landscaping and installation of pedestrian accessible ramps and signals.
