Staples-Motley blanks NLS in 6AA baseball
COLD SPRING -- Staples-Motley held New London-Spicer to two hits as the Wildcats surrendered nine unearned runs in a 10-0 loss Thursday in Section 6AA baseball.
The Cardinals' Jordan Riewer tossed a two-hitter with four strikeouts and a walk while his offense forced 10 runs out of NLS. He also hit a two-run single.
NLS committed five errors to Staples-Motley's eight runs in a six inning game.
Wildcats' coach John Vraa called Thursday "the poorest game of the year, no question."
Andrew Clancy took the loss for New London-Spicer. He pitched four innings and surrendered just one earned run of seven scored by the Cardinals.
Jeremy Hinkemeyer pitched 1Xc innings of relief, allowing three unearned runs on two hits and two walks.
Luke Reiter and Luke Peterson hit the two singles for New London-Spicer.
Thursday's loss ends the season for the Wildcats. They finished with a 12-11 season record.
