WILLMAR -- Traffic on state Highway 7 will be detoured this summer and fall as road construction stretching from Silver Lake to St. Bonifacius will begin next week.
According to a news release from the Minnesota Department of Transportation, the detour from the west will include taking state Highway 7 east to state Highway 22, south to U.S. Highway 212, east to state Highway 5, east to state Highway 41, and lastly, north on state Highway 7. The detour will add nines miles of traveling to the 22-mile stretch from Silver Lake to St. Bonifacius on state Highway 7.
Construction on the stretch will involve removal of two inches of pavement and repaving with four inches of bituminous pavement. The work will also include construction of three passing lane sections -- one in McLeod County and two in Carver County -- and two roundabouts at state Highway 25 and County Road 10.
The project is expected to cost $13,381,250 and be completed by Nov. 15.
