ST. PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota's unemployment rate held steady in December from the previous month. That's a leveling off after a two-month streak where the state added jobs.

The Department of Employment and Economic Development is reporting on its Web site that the state's unemployment rate in December was 7.4 percent. That's the same as it was in November, which saw the addition of 7,000 jobs from the month before.

The national unemployment rate in November and December was 10 percent.

State employment commissioner Dan McElroy will discuss the job situation in a press conference this morning. He has cautioned that signs of improvement don't necessarily signal a fully recovered economy.
