PAYNESVILLE - Stella B. Gruber age 93, of Paynesville died on Sunday, October 27, 2013, at Assumption Home in Cold Spring, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville. Burial will be at St. Anthonys Catholic Cemetery in Regal. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 5-8:00 pm at Johnson Funeral Home in Paynesville and continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Stella Barbara Gruber was born on October 11, 1920 in Roscoe, the daughter of Ben and Mary (Niewind) Hageman. She grew up in Roscoe where she attended school in the two room school house. After school she moved to Minneapolis where she worked at St. Marys Hospital. On October 16, 1945, Stella was united in marriage to Mike Gruber. To this union three sons and a daughter were born. They made their home near Regal where they operated a dairy farm. She also worked for Paynesville Produce, candling eggs. Mike passed away in August of 1998, together they shared in 52 years of marriage.

Stella was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Regal and currently St. Louis Catholic Church where she served in Christian Mothers. She enjoyed mowing lawn with her John Deere and dairy farming. She also enjoyed making doughnuts and teaching her grandkids to drive her car to church every Sunday. To relax Stella loved to play the piano or accordion.

Stella died Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Assumption Home in Cold Spring at the age of 93. She is survived by her children, Curtis (Verna) Gruber of Rockford, Charlotte (Ronald) Eisenschenk of St. Joseph, Gary (Linda) Gruber of Paynesville and Dale (Julie) Gruber of New London; 11 Grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Donna Hageman and brother-in-law, Frank Gruber.

Stella was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mike; and siblings, Lucille Flint, Viola Hormann, Cyrilla Hageman and Raymond Hagmann.
