Sticky, oppressive heat to let up a bit
WILLMAR -- What the National Weather Service describes as "oppressively hot and humid conditions'' will continue through the day across the region. Temperatures are expected to hit 94 in the Willmar area, with a heat index value of 107 likely. It will be breezy, with a south southwest wind between 11 and 20 mph with gusts as high as 26 mph, according to the National Weather Service office in Chanhassen.
There's a chance of isolated storms tonight, and a bit of hope for a day of relief Thursday. The high on Thursday is forecast to be near 84 with lower humidity. The heat and humidity return at week's end with temps in the mid-to-high 80s.
