Three Alexandria hurlers combined to limit the Stingers to three singles en route to a 5-1 Northwoods League win on Thurday night at Bill Taunton Stadium.

Willmar's lone run came in the first inning when it had two of its hits. The Stingers then had just one hit the rest of the way.

With one out, Isaac Ballou singled, advanced to second on a two-out wild pitch and scored on Jordan Smith's single. Sean Dwyer then popped out to end the inning.

Willmar starter Cody Barnes pitched seven strong innings, scattering eight hits, while walking none and striking out four.

Alexandria scored three times in the eighth inning off losing pitcher Bryan Willson. The Beetles capped the soring with a run in the top of the ninth.

Carlos Leyva had the other Willmar hit.
