Email

WILLMAR — The Willmar Stingers are nearly at a full roster with three new additions to the pitching staff, the team announced Tuesday.

They continued to stock the roster with freshmen and sophomores, adding freshman righthanders Garrett Anderson from Florida Gulf Coast and Will Lydon from Pacific, and redshirt sophomore Matt Snyder from Kentucky.

The 2014 roster is now at 26 players — the maximum is 30 — with just four juniors and no seniors, but won’t have a lack of experience.

Lydon jumped right into the Tigers’ starting rotation as a freshman, and is third on the team with 41 innings pitched, with a 4.39 ERA and 28 strikeouts.

The well-travelled Snyder comes with just six innings this season for the Wildcats, but was excellent last year in junior college. He redshirted in 2012 as a member of Virginia Tech before transferring to Fulton Montgomery Community College (Johnstown, N.Y.) for his freshman season where he put up a 2.36 ERA with 96 strikeouts in 60.1 innings to make First Team All-Region. He then transferred to Temple for this season but quickly transferred again, to Kentucky, when Temple announced the baseball program would be cut.

Anderson has posted a 2.33 ERA in 19.1 innings of work, mostly in relief, with 11 strikeouts and two walks.
