Stingers notes: Dozier homers for a walk-off single

Hunter Dozier (Stephen F. Austin) hit a walk-off single over the left field fence in the 11th inning of Saturday's game to give the Lumberjacks a 4-3 win over UT-San Antonio.

The sophomore infielder's game-winner would have been a home run had he not passed the runner on the base paths as he was rounding first base. It was Dozier's third hit of the game to push his season batting average to .352. The hit would have been his seventh home run. Even with the loss of that shot, he leads the team in home runs (6), batting average, RBIs (16), slugging percentage (.648), hits (32) and runs (19).

Kenny Roberts (Alabama) is struggling to adapt to Division I ball after transferring from junior college; he's batting .205 as the team's primary second baseman ... Pat Stover (Santa Clara) is batting .348 with 2 home runs and a team-leading 17 RBIs ... Stephen Talbott (Purdue) is batting .375 with a .556 slugging percentage ... Scott Lieser (St. Cloud State) had a rough outing in the Northern Sun Conference opener against Winona State; the junior righthander cruised through five innings before giving up four runs in the sixth in the Huskies' 5-3 loss ... Dillon Haupt (San Diego) is batting .341 and slugging .610 for the Toreros ... Thomas Taylor (Kansas) got knocked around by No. 27 Baylor on Saturday, giving up eight earned runs in five innings of work ... Junior college transfer George Asmus (Washington) has a 2.70 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 16-2/3 innings of work ... Corben Green (La.-Monroe) continues to struggle, hitting just .194 ... Brady Anderson (Florida Gulf Coast) has a 5.11 ERA in 12-1/3 innings ... Josh Biggs (Evansville) has a 1.08 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 12 relief appearances
