Stingers promotion schedule filled with giveaways, themes
WILLMAR -- If your first name is Paul, John, George or Ringo, you could take advantage of free admission June 10 to a Willmar Stingers baseball game.
That's when the team will hold "Salute to Beatles Night" in which anyone with the same first name as those made famous by the band will receive free admission to the game.
And if you want to enjoy a hot dog on July 11, there will be dollar bills hidden inside some of the wrappers. One lucky fan purchasing a hot dog will win $100.
The Stingers, playing their inaugural season in the Northwoods League, will hold a promotion for each of their home games this season.
"Promotions are what make Northwoods League baseball great," said Stingers co-owner Ryan Voz. "We have 35 home games and each has something unique and fun for the entire family."
The Northwoods is an elite wood bat summer collegiate baseball league filled with some of the top players in the nation. The Stingers have already signed several Division I players and are currently waiting for league approval on many more.
Former Minnesota Twins Hall of Famer Paul Molitor will throw out the first pitch of the season opener June 3. There will also be a fireworks show after the game.
The team will also be filled with giveaways such as baseball bats, caps, t-shirts, batting helmets, pennants and rally towels.
Former professional wrestler Sgt. Slaughter will be on hand to throw out the first pitch and sign autographs on July 8.
Twins mascot TC Bear will make an appearance on Minnesota Twins night on June 21.
