The Stingers are now 3-3 in the Northwoods League North Division. They play 7:05 p.m. today at Rochester.

Whidby, who earned a four-inning save in his Stingers’ debut on Thursday, held the Honkers to one run on five hits over 7.1 innings and struck out four.

Rochester chased him from the game when Mitch Anderson doubled with one out in the eighth.

Bret Dahlson replaced Whidby and allowed Anderson to score on a Tucker Tharp single, but prevented any further damage and recorded the final five outs of the game.

The Willmar offense pounded out 13 hits and scattered five runs against Rochester pitching.

Max Kuhn knocked an RBI double in the fifth and Chris Barnett drove in two with a second-inning single.

Michael Suchy and Colton Bottomley also drove in runs for Willmar.

Notes: The four college teams with current Stingers playing that were still alive in the College World Series have all been eliminated: St. Louis (Nick Bates, Alec Sole, Danny Brennan), San Francisco (Abe Bobb, Sheldon Lee), San Diego (Logan Davis, Drew Jacobs, Max Homick) and Central Arkansas (Logan Moon)
