MARSHALL - A $11.5 million construction project on state Highway 23 from Marshall to Cottonwood will begin next Monday.

Traffic will be detoured during the project, which is expected to be completed by mid-August.

Highway 23 traffic will be detoured east on Highway 19/Highway 68 in Marshall and north on Lyon County Road 9.

The first segment of the project, which will cost $3.8 million, will extend the four-lane highway in Marshall from north of Highway 19 to one mile north of Lyon County Road 33. The project includes grading, surfacing and lighting.

The second portion of the project will cost $7.7 million. It extends from north of Lyon County Road 33 to Cottonwood County Road 24 south of Cottonwood and includes mill and overlay, lighting and construction. Crews will construct passing lanes near Cottonwood County Road 22 to south of 360th Street.
