ATWATER -- A 64-year-old man was arrested on charges of second-degree assault and terroristic threats Friday after law enforcement officers, including the Kandiyohi County tactical team, were called to a home on the east side of Diamond Lake.
According to a news release from Sheriff Dan Hartog, the sheriff's office was called around 7:40 a.m. this morning by a person who lives on the east side of the lake. The person reported that another person living in the same home had threatened them with a gun.
Deputies arrived to find that the person who was threatened was no longer in the home, but that the person making the threats was in the home by himself with firearms.
The tactical team was called to the scene and eventually the man came out of the home and was arrested. He is being held in the county jail.
Assisting the sheriff's office and tactical team were the State Patrol and the Atwater Ambulance, which was on standby for the incident.
