Suspect arrested in Dassel, Minn., after crashing stolen Jeep, then fleeing on foot
LITCHFIELD -- A suspect is in custody after being accused of crashing a stolen Jeep into a tree in Dassel this morning and then fleeing on foot.
The man, a 26-year-old from Lester Prairie, was nabbed after a foot pursuit by Meeker County sheriff's deputies and the Minnesota State Patrol. He was taken to the Meeker County Jail in Litchfield, where he's being held on charges that include motor vehicle theft, fleeing in a motor vehicle and fleeing on foot.
According to the Meeker County Sheriff's Office, the incident began around 9:20 a.m. today as the State Patrol and sheriff's deputies attempted to stop the suspect, who allegedly was driving a Jeep reported stolen hours earlier in Hutchinson.
The Sheriff's Office said there was a short vehicle chase through Dassel which ended when the Jeep crashed into a tree on Atlantic Avenue East. The suspect then fled on foot and was chased and arrested without further incident.
