The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office said the chase began at about 1:40 a.m. Saturday when a deputy on patrol in the city of Atwater spotted a couple of alleged traffic violations by a motorist. The deputy pursued the vehicle, which by then was westbound out of the city limits on Highway 12.

The Sheriff's Office said that by the time the deputy caught up, the vehicle reportedly was traveling at a speed in excess of 100 mph. The pursuit continued at speeds upwards of 100 mph for the next three miles on Highway 12, ending on the west edge of the city of Kandiyohi when the vehicle went into a plowed field and stopped.

The driver, age 41, of Kandiyohi, was arrested and faces criminal charges. No injuries or damage were reported.
