Suspect held in Blue Earth, Minn., home invasion

BLUE EARTH, Minn. (AP) -- Police late Monday arrested a suspect in an early morning home invasion in southern Minnesota that left a 37-year-old man dead and three other people seriously injured.

Police were called to a Blue Earth home about 12:30 a.m. Monday after a masked man entered attacked its occupants.

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said the suspect bludgeoned the victims with a blunt object, killing the man and seriously injuring a 38-year-old woman and her two teenage daughters. Another daughter, 6, was not injured. The three injured people were transported to United Hospital District Hospital in Blue Island, and then airlifted to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Investigators said they were not seeking additional suspects in the crime and that the arrested suspect is being held in Faribault County Jail awaiting charges.

The man's body was being taken to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office, and an autopsy was scheduled for today to determine his identity and how he died.

The Blue Earth Police Department and the Faribault County Sheriff's Office are also are investigating.
