Suspects in Granite Falls shooting are in custody after police chase Tuesday
GRANITE FALLS ––Two suspects in a shooting incident last week in Granite Falls that seriously injured a man are in custody in Yellow Medicine County following a 45-minute chase Tuesday.
The individuals are being held in connection with the July 18 shooting of a man south of Granite Falls.
The victim was found lying on state Highway 23, bleeding and covered in blood from a gunshot wound.
According to a press release, the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s office, in conjunction with the Lyon County Sheriff’s office and the Marshall Police Department, were involved in a pursuit of a vehicle that had two suspects in the shooting.
The pursuit started south of Marshall on Highway 23 and continued through Lyon and Lincoln counties over a 45-minute time span.
The pursuit was terminated when a trooper with the Minnesota State Patrol used a “pursuit intervention technique” maneuver to stop the vehicle on County Road 137 about a half a mile from the South Dakota line in Lincoln County.
The driver and passenger were treated at the Hendricks Community Hospital and released to the custody of the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff.
Other agencies involved in the pursuit were the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Lake Benton Police Department.
The investigation is continuing and no further information is available at this time.
