Swimming: St. Cloud Tech dunks Willmar
WILLMAR -- St. Cloud Tech couldn't help but swamp the Willmar swimming and diving team on Tuesday, 102-79.
Illness hit the Willmar team this week; six swimmers and two divers were out and a seventh swimmer left during the meet not feeling well.
"We competed and really swam hard, but it's a little disappointing because we thought we had a pretty good chance against Tech," said Willmar coach Carl Shuldes.
Willmar's Ashley Alvarado won the 500 freestyle and had a personal-best in the 200-freestyle, where she was second by .43 to the Tigers' Kelly Morford.
The roster shortage comes during a busy week. Willmar hosts Brainerd on Thursday and then travels to Hutchinson on Saturday for the section True Team meet.
