Swimming: Tinklenberg 2nd in 500 at MIAC meet
Gustavus Adolphus sophomore Alissa Tinklenberg, from Willmar, swam a career-best 4:58.42 but was nipped at the wall by defending champion Meghan Weiss of St. Olaf (4:57.4) in the MIAC Championships women's 500-freestyle.
Tinklenberg had won the morning prelim in the event.
Tinklenberg and junior Sarah Hund, from Willmar, swam on the winning 200-yard-freestyle relay.
Gustavus is favored to win the three-day meet at the University of Minnesota aquatics center.
