Swimming: Willmar upends Melrose

WILLMAR -- Willmar won nine events, including two relays, to beat Melrose/Sauk Centre 103-81 in a non-conference boys swimming and diving meet Tuesday.

The Cardinals won the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle, but had both of their 400 freestyle relays disqualified.

Kyle Rozendaal won the 200 individual medley in 2:20.19 and the 100 backstroke in 58.19.

Bennett Woltjer outclassed the field of divers with a total of 211.50 points. Teammate Sam Murphy finished second with 172.85.

Also finishing first for the Cardinals were Michael McLain in the 200 freestyle, Ben?Fugelstad in the 100 butterfly, A.J. Derouin in the 500 freestyle and Josh Kelly in the 100 breaststroke.

Willmar is at St. Cloud Apollo on Thursday.
