GRANITE FALLS -- Sylvan Elmer Kissner, 97, of Granite Falls, died Friday at the Granite Falls Manor.
The service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Granite Falls. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Friday at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Granite Falls and will for one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born March 14, 1912, in Sleepy Eye to Arthur and Emily (Lowinske) Kissner. The family moved to the Echo area and then south of Belview. He attended country school and farmed with his father.
He married Frances LaVern Boklep on Oct. 25, 1934. They lived on Sylvan's family farm for four years until they moved southeast of Renville where he farmed for 26 years. In 1965, they moved to Granite Falls where he did carpentry work for 10 years, before retiring.
He is survived by his wife; children: Dennis (and Darlene) Kissner of Redwood Falls, Robert (and Jolene) Kissner of Ham Lake, Sharon (and Denny) Bannon of Chino Hills, Calif., Elaine Kissner (and Shawn Casserly) of Minneapolis, Vernon (and Janice) Kissner of Minneapolis, Kenneth (and Lori) Kissner of Pensacola, Fla.; 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three children: Ronald Kissner, Darlene Peters and Judy Kissner and two granddaughters.
