Sylvania Cully Swoboda May 24, 1916 - Oct. 8, 2008
BIRD ISLAND -- Sylvania Anna Cully Swoboda, 92, of Bird Island, died Wednesday at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bird Island with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Bird Island with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to St. Mary's Church or the Society for the Blind.
She was born May 24, 1916, in Bird Island to Hubert and Rose (Pichotta) Weis. She grew up and attended school at Bird Island.
She married William Cully in 1934 and they lived in Bird Island. William died in 1968.
She married Stanley Swoboda in 1977. They lived in Bird Island and Stanley died in 2001. She continued to live in her own home. She was a sales representative for Stanley Home Products for 60 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the CCW. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 62 years.
She is survived by seven children: Mary Ann Clouse of Bird Island, Audrey Perske of Bloomington, William (and Hazel) Cully of Bird Island, Donna Culley of Blaine, Robert (and LeeAnne) Cully of Wyoming, Darlene (and Sherwood) Dummer of Hutchinson and Douglas (and Lyndis) Cully of St. Cloud; four step-daughters: Janice Thordson of Minneapolis, Linda (and Ted) Coler of Norfolk, Neb., Mary Beth (and Dave) Smith of Hector and Susan (and Kevin) Walters of Ortonville; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, three step-children: Beatrice Ahl, Francis Cully and Patricia Morrow, two sons-in-law: Joe Clouse and Jim Perske; three sisters and two brothers.
