Talk on Somali culture to be held Saturday at YMCA

WILLMAR -- Ali Maqsuud, the director of the Somali Women's Organization of Willmar, will be at the Kandiyohi County Area Family YMCA this Saturday to answer questions from the public about Somali culture.

The talk will be a way for the public to better understand the Somali people, she said.

She will be available from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the YMCA to answer questions from visitors.

Maqsuud, a 2006 graduate of Willmar High School and a student at Ridgewater College, is the current director of the Somali Women's Organization of Willmar. Their office at the Centre Point Mall in downtown Willmar provides a place for Somali immigrants to get help with English language skills, filling out paper work and applying for jobs.
