Taunton, Minn., woman dies in crash on Highway 23

HANLEY FALLS -- A 43-year-old Taunton woman was killed Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash along State Highway 23 south of Hanley Falls.

According to the State Patrol, Janet D. Reed was driving a 2001 Chevy Blazer that made contact with a 2000 Ford Super Duty pickup driven by Keith A. Chapman, 29, of Carlos. After the initial contact, Reed's vehicle spun around and came to rest facing northwest. Chapman's pickup went off the road into a field.

The crash was reported around 12:45 p.m. Reed was not wearing her seatbelt. Chapman was treated and released at Avera Hospital in Marshall. He was wearing his seatbelt.

Also responding were the Lyon and Yellow Medicine county sheriff's offices and the Cottonwood ambulance and fire departments.
