Martin Bravo was ordered held at the Prairie Lakes Youth Program secure unit. His next appearance in Kandiyohi County District Court is July 29.

Bravo is charged with second-degree assault, third-degree burglary and a misdemeanor theft charge in connection to the July 20 incident. Felony charges against 16- and 17-year-olds are public record.

According to the petition, Willmar police were called Tuesday to a home along Ella Avenue Northwest. A man there reported that three Hispanic males had taken a bicycle from his garage and were walking away when he began yelling at them. The boys ran off, leaving the bike.

The man said he'd gotten into his truck and followed Bravo to a home along Gorton Avenue, where he said the boy pulled a knife on him.

Bravo allegedly admitted to going to the garage, taking the bike and then pulling the knife on the man. The knife was handed over to the investigating officer.
