Teen faces charges for alleged beating at clinic
WILLMAR -- A 19-year-old Willmar teen made her first appearance Thursday on two felony charges for third- and fifth-degree assault for allegedly hitting another woman in the face at a Willmar medical clinic.
Stephanie Priscilla Pina was ordered held on $20,000 unconditional bail. Her next appearance in Kandiyohi County District Court is April 18.
According to the complaint, Willmar police were called on Feb. 11 to the urgent care clinic at Affiliated Community Medical Center in Willmar regarding an assault. A woman was being treated for cuts to her eye and nose.
The woman reported that she had gone to the clinic with a relative to get the results of a test and that Pina had also come to the clinic and sat near her in the lobby waiting area. Pina had confronted the woman and then hit her as many as three times with her fist and a cell phone, causing the cuts and breaking the woman's glasses.
Clinic staff members had separated Pina and the woman and took the woman to the urgent care area for medical attention. Three stitches were required to close the woman's wound on her eye and five stitches were necessary for the nose wound.
