LITCHFIELD -- Three teen drivers suffered only minor injuries during a three-car crash around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday along 11th Street West in Litchfield.

The vehicles involved in the crash included a 2001 Jeep driven by a 16-year-old Litchfield girl, a 2001 Ford driven by a 17-year-old Litchfield boy and a 1994 Chevy driven by a 16-year-old Litchfield boy.

According to city Police Chief Patrick Fank, the vehicles were in a line of cars waiting for children to board a school bus when the crash occurred. Details are sketchy, but Fank said the glare from the morning sun and driver inattentiveness were likely contributing factors.

After the crash occurred, two of the vehicles became fully engulfed. The Litchfield Fire Department responded to the scene.

The drivers were taken by private party to Meeker Memorial Hospital, Fank said. The Police Department did not release their names.

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office, Litchfield Rescue Squad and Gold Cross Ambulance also responded to the scene.
