The advisory is from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today. Forecasters expect a round of near-record temperatures for the region.

Humidity levels will be relatively low, but with the actual temperatures nearly 100 degrees, the heat indexes will reach 100 to 105 degrees by mid-afternoon.

The Weather Service urges people who plan to be outside to take extra precautions, stay hydrated, wear lightweight clothing and take breaks from their activity.
