BNSF spokesman Gus Melonas said the train derailed as it was pulling into the Dilworth train yard. The train was heading eastbound from Wyoming, he said.

Stangeland said the derailment was confined to the railroad property in the 3000 block of Frontage Road South in Moorhead.

Loaded coal cars were mostly involved, according to Stangeland.

Crews expect to open the track this morning, Melonas said. A cause for the derailment was not immediately known.
