Texas teen drowns in Games Lake Saturday afternoon

WILLMAR, Minn. - A 17-year-old Texas teen drowned Saturday afternoon in Games Lake located in northwestern Kandiyohi County north of Willmar.

Oscar Alejandro Ramirez, 17, of Eagle Pass, Texas, was unable to be revived after getting in trouble near a raft in the swimming area at Kandiyohi County Park #7, according to a news release from the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office.

Park lifeguards and a Sheriff's Water Safety Deputy responded at 2:58 p.m. Saturday to calls for assistance. They entered the water and located the teenager in about six feet of water. The victim was not breathing when located and was brought to the lakeshore where CRP was started. Attempts to revive the victim were not successful.

EMS personnel from Sunburg Ambulance Service, Lakes Area First Responders, New London Fire Department, and Willmar Ambulance Paramedics responded to the scene. Life-Link III Air Ambulance was also responded and landed at the scene.

The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office is investigating the drowning incident.
