Texting while driving took teen’s life; father to speak about loss
REDWOOD FALLS — On the first day of her senior year in high school Deianerah “D.J.” Logan was composing a text as she drove her van to school.
The 17-year-old Byron High School student lost her life when she crashed into the back of a stopped school bus.
Her father, Matt Logan, will tell the story of the tragic Sept. 4, 2012, accident as part of the annual Towards Zero Deaths workshop in Southwest Minnesota. The District 8 Minnesota Department of Transportation is hosting the event at 8 a.m. on May 9 at the Redwood Falls Community Center.
Logan will offer his personal impact statement at 11:15 a.m.
The morning will also feature information on efforts to reduce highway fatalities in the southwest Mn/DOT district, trauma care, and information on child passenger safety.
