RENVILLE -- Theodore A. Agre, 79, of Renville, died Monday at Renville County Hospital in Olivia.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Renville. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Renville.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Renville and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was born Aug. 23, 1929, in Renville County to Tollef and Mable (Westby) Agre. He grew up in the Sacred Heart area and graduated from Renville High School in 1948. Following graduation, he worked at Botsford Lumber Company in Renville.
On June 2, 1951, he married Genevieve Toupal in Renville. They lived in Renville where he worked at and managed the Renville Farmers Lumber Company. In 1967, he began working at State Farm Insurance, retiring after 25 years.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church, serving as president of the church council and holding other offices. He served on the Renville Ambulance for 12 years and spent 21 years as a volunteer for the Renville Fire Department. He was also a member of the Renville Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife; five children: Dan (and Deb) Agre of Sacred Heart, Jane (and Blake) Schroeder of Danube, Carol (and Kelly) Martin of Sacred Heart, Julie (and Brian) Clouse of Fergus Falls and David (and Terri) Agre of Renville; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers Roger (and Frances) Agre of Glenwood and Larry (and Janet) Agre of Brandon, S.D.
He was preceded in death by one grandson and three sisters.
